Founding partner Gary Flood brings to the private sector a wealth of investigative experience both in the UK and internationally, gleaned during a 30 year detective career at Scotland Yard. He has worked on some of the highest profile investigations during his time on homicide, national crime, economic and specialist crime and extradition. He spent over seven years on Scotland Yard’s extradition unit and was widely acknowledged as the policing expert in extradition matters and has presented and travelled extensively on the subject including a guest speaker at The Fugitive Investigators conference in Toronto and also invited as a guest speaker at the Extradition Lawyers Association inaugural conference alongside prominent judges, QC’s and politicians.
He personally authored and submitted an amendment to the Extradition Act 2003 which received Parliamentary Scrutiny and subsequently become legislation. He was regularly consulted by foreign states, home office, cps and defence lawyers and built up an unrivalled reputation both in the UK and internationally and has an extensive network of international contacts, particularly in North America, many of whom are also now working in the private sector and are associates of Arkle Global Investigative Solutions ltd.
He was a vocal critic of the Extradition Act 2003 particularly in respect of US white collar fraud requests and European Arrest Warrants (EAW) issued for trivial matters which in both cases subsequent reviews and current parliament have taken action against.
He has recently advised a British national arrested in France on an EAW for historic offences and identified procedural flaws in the Netherlands issued EAW which was brought to the attention of the court. This resulted in the bailing of the subject and his subsequent return to the UK.
